Here’s what happens:
1. A deck of cards is borrowed and shuffled, and groups of cards are handed out to the spectators. A game of poker is proposed. The spectator determines how many players there are and deals that many hands, and they can deal the hands in any order.
2. The spectator determines how many cards the magician discards from their hand, and they deal replacement cards to the magician.
3. The spectators claim different hands and choose which cards to discard and replace.
4. Impossibly, when the hands are revealed, the magician has the winning poker hand. Not only is it the winning hand, but it’s also a royal flush.
Dani’s Absent Player effect is truly incredible, but in this version it’s completely impromptu! In this lesson, you learn to use your spectators to do all the work for you. Dani’s insight into controlling cards to specific locations using the spectator’s shuffling is diabolical. This technique isn’t just good for controlling a single card, but also groups of cards. The best part is that it hides in plain sight. You don’t need to be a sleight-of-hand master to perform this effect.
The Borrowed Deck Project is must-watch material for anyone who wants to look like a real pro with cards. The effects are simple in concept but mind-blowing in execution. You’ll learn great tricks and become privy to Dani’s FISM award-winning theories in card magic. School is in session, and you don’t even need to supply your own deck because any deck in the world can now make you look like an expert at the card table when you study the final chapter of The Borrowed Deck Project by Dani Daortiz.
